Let the Good Times Roll

BTC Hits 100K
The Screaming Cowboy never gets old.

Hello Anon,

I woke up this morning and checked my portfolio tracker as I do first thing in the mornings, and noted that BTC had breached 100k, hitting a new ATH at 104k. It's since retraced below that level, but I did my happy dance this morning. My joy was compounded over securing a new car last night, so I am happy twice over today. Breaching this level is important for so many reasons, and I can't wait to see what the next month brings.

My outlook hasn't changed at all. I don't like to make price predictions but I would not be surprised if we hit $125k before Christmas. As far as pullbacks go, there are any number of geopolitical issues that could throw things into disarray: the martial law situation in Korea caused a bit of a blip, and things could blow up over the Ukraine or Middle East situations, but with the recent announcement of Trump's pick for FEC, Paul Atkins, I don't think we should expect anything but the best in Washington next year. I imagine Dems will push back on some things as a matter of course, but maybe we'll get some bipartisanship on the issue.

For now, I'm going to continue selling into this market. Our cash reserves AKA emergency fund still needs replenishing, and we'll reassess scaling that back in a few weeks.

I've had a couple conversations with nocoiners the last twenty four hours. Pre-coiners might be a better phrase for it, as no-coiner might be someone who is anti-crypto, whereas pre-coiner implies just not yet. It's a bit difficult for me, as I've grown a bit more para about details and exposing myself. The finance person at the car dealership actually asked me how many I had, and told him that question was verboten. I explained why opsec was important.

Likewise, when I brought the topic up in the barbershop this morning, my barber told me that he knew someone who had two bitcoin. I responded by referring to a Five Dollar Wrench attack.

My point here is that I'm well past the point that I'm comfortable with self-custody. My wife certainly doesn't know what to do if something happens to me. We've got a protocol that basically boils down to 'call my friend X' and go from there. Not the best plan, to be honest. But the security issue is becoming more of a problem. Opsec is critical for any hodler, and I feel like advocating for bitcoin and crypto is going to get me in trouble. Once shit gets out there, it's out there forever. Sometimes I worry whether writing here is too great a risk.

But yea, BTC 100k. This is just the next phase in bitcoin's inevitable maturation as a digital asset, and I don't think 250 is off the table next year. My friend thinks we'll see 400, but I think that's really aggressive and probably would only be a fleeting, blow off top. We'll see, I'll likely take some of that off the table and then start looking for opportunities to come back twelve or eighteen months later. We'll see, stink bids and such may come into play.

Of course, this may be the supercycle, breaking bitcoin's four-year boom and bust. That remains to be seen, so enough about the future for now. I just wanted to take today to celebrate bitcoin's success today. It's further validation that the last eight years of my life have been put to good use, and that we have both the correct intent and outcome.

Let the good times roll!
